The total trade for May 2025 was 1,803.5 million, comprising exports valued at 1,027.9 million and imports amounting to 775 point 6 million.  The major contributors to the export value were Mineral Fuels, followed by Chemicals, and Manufactured Goods.

 

The main export markets were the People's Republic of China, followed by Australia and the Republic of Korea, respectively. The largest export commodities to these countries were Mineral Fuels and Chemicals.

 

Meanwhile, the three main import commodities were Mineral Fuels, followed by Machinery and Transport Equipment, and Food. 

 

The largest import partners were Malaysia, followed by the People's Republic of China, and Australia. The main import commodities from these trading partners were Mineral Fuels, Food, as well as Machinery and Transport Equipment.

 

Compared to April 2025, total trade declined by 7 per cent due to an 11.9 per cent decrease in exports. The imports for end use categories were mainly used as Intermediate Goods processing, followed by Capital Goods for business operations, and Consumption Goods for household use.
